Description
WELDING TRAINING PROCESSES
1. Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW) commonly known as Arc Welding / Stick welding.
This is a manual arc welding process that uses a consumable welding electrode covered by a flux to lay a weld.
2. Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (GTAW) commonly known as TIG Welding.
This is a welding process that uses a non-consumable tungsten electrode to produce a weld. The weld is protected from oxidation by atmospheric contaminants by an inert shielding gas such as argon or helium
3. Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW) commonly known as MIG Welding.
This is a welding process a consumable MIG wire electrode and the workpiece metal are melted by an electric arch that forms between them causing them to join. A Shielding gas feed through the welding gun is used to protect the welds from atmospheric contaminants.
