Description
Crane Training is designed to provide participants with the skills and knowledge to safely operate a wide variety of cranes in different working environments such as mobile slewing cranes, non-slewing cranes. This course is designed to give participants the necessary skills and knowledge to undertake Basic Rigging work safely and competently. On completion, candidates will be able to undertake steel erection; erect hoists (including mast climbing hoists); place pre-cast concrete; move plant and equipment using a variety of means including skates, chain blocks, tirfors and other means; install safety nets and static lines; install perimeter safety screens and shutters; and, install cantilever crane loading platforms. Candidates will also gain a sound knowledge of applicable legislations and standards and risk management associated with related to Basic Rigging operations.

- Introduction to dogging and rigging
- Basic rigging:
o Steel erection;
o Erecting hoists (including mast climbing hoists)
o Placing pre-cast concrete;
o move plant and equipment using a variety of means including skates,
o Chain blocks,
o Tirfors and other means;
o Installing safety nets and static lines;
o Installing perimeter safety screens and shutters; and,
o Installing cantilever crane loading platforms.
- Advanced Rigging:
o All the outcomes for rigging work at the basic and intermediate levels

§ Guyed derricks and structures
§ Suspended scaffolds and fabricated hung scaffolds for licensing purposes
- Slinging techniques
- Selection and inspecting lifting gear and equipment;
- Safe movement and placement of loads including out of view of the crane operator (direct crane operators).
